Another Roadtrip Loss
The magic is fading fast on 2025 after our 4th loss in a row, once again on the road. Our forwards were once again dominated as we struggled to control the ruck. Until we address this fundamental issue we will see the same results We have fallen out of 8 and are now closing on the bottom 4 in first grade. As a club we are struggling to improve across the 3 grades with reserve grade and U21s also running last. We are home this week against a Broncos team who have been running well so far in 2025.
Wighton and Mamouzelos Injuries
We can't take a trick. JAck Wighton finally had a strong game and then we lose him for 4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Then as the game closed we lose Peter Mamouzelos for a extended period with a dislocated elbow. Rotten luck for these players. But the trend of losing 2 or more players across all grades every week continues. As well as Wighton and Mamouzelos we also lost Rugless from U21s.
Schuster Show
Josh Schuster had his best game to date with the club with a strong game in reserve grade as he regains fitness. He scored a try, and setup two more, one from a cut out pass and a second from a well placed kick. If the trend continues he will be pushing for inclusion in the first grade squad over the coming month.
Fong and Berryman step up
The first of the next generation got a taste of senior grade when they played U21s on the week end. Fong's speed on the wing came in handy when given a bit of room, and the way he worked with Towns to score was class. Berryman could a real sprise packet at hooker. He energy was very evident when he came on and has a great abilit to attack behid the ruck. Looking forward to seeing how both develop.
Welcome Back Perth Bears
Well its official, the Perth and the Bears are back in the NRL. We all felt for the supporters and players of Perth firstly when News Ltd shut them down during the SUper League after a great 1995 season launch. Then the same occurred when foundation club North Sydney were kicked out along with us in 1999. So its great to see a traditional rival return, all be it in a new form over in Perth rather than on the Central Coast as they were planning in 1999. So welcome back to the Bears. Another major wrong from the Super League War is corrected. Got to love the free front page press Perth gave the announcement to AFL fans. They now all know Rugby League is in town to stay.
