Strong Win
It was a important follow up to win after the week off. The team started well and came home strong strong to record another win over Parramatta, winning our last 10 from 11. We scored tries on both sides of the field in a well balanced attack. A lot of work still to do to make the finals, but we are heading in the right direction. We still need 5 more wins to make the finals. Now off to play Penrith who are leading the competition at Parramatta.
Jennings Debut
Dyane Jennings got a surprise call up last game and sat on the bench, before playing his part in the New South Wales U19s. With Kosi limping off he was called up from the bench to make his NRL first grade debut, after only 3 games in U21s in 2026, after stepping up from U19s and bypassed reserve grade in our injury crisis. He handled himself well and brought a lot of speed and enthusiasm. Looking forward to a long career.
Mazzone double
Mazzone continue to find the try line. First from using his speed down the left sideline and then from his ability in the air. He has scored 11 tries for the season to date as he dominates our reserve grade try scorers.
Humphries returns
Captain Matthew Humphries returned to U1s this week and his skill with the ball and kicking game were very evident for all to see. He scored a try and setup another, and kicked 4 goals to boot. The U21s now sit 1 point out of the 5 as they continue their push to make the finals.
McGregor returns and dominates
McGregor return from her U19 interstate duties and help guide the team around the field, with her strong kicking game. She scored a try, setup another and kicked 4 goals. Our women's team is now 3 wins from 3 starts in a great start to the season The team sits in equal first but in 2nd on for and against.
New TV Deal
All the talk this week has been on the TV deal for 2028 and beyond. The ARLC has been working the negotiation table with different parties from the traditional free-to-air broadcasters, the pay-tv providers to the new streaming giants. It looks like we will see a significant increase in the broadcasting revenue and surpase our rival AFL for the first time as the code rebuilds after the damage from the Super League War. What will the new deal mean? A lot of this will come down to the detail and how the next NRL-RLPA CBA plays out, but jumps in the Salary Cap are on the cards, expansion of two teams and likely a third during the next deal. I found the interest from the big streaming groups and Stan of most interest as it all goes well for the broadcasting revenue in the future.
