On a cold wet Thursday night South Sydney won the important 2 points against Parramatta at Commbank Stadium, 32 to 12. Both teams coming off the bye were full of energy in a fast apced opening to the game. South Sydney scored first through a great backline sweep first to the right and then back to left which saw Walker take on the line and score. Siegwalt converts. Sustained pressure saw South Sydney in again when Smith darted out from dummy half and put Aitken over. Siegwalt converts. Parramatta hit back off a set restart that let then gain field position and the scored. The Eels dominated most of the second half but some great try savers from Duncan kept them out. Parramatta were almost in again but a great try saver by Ward and then Kosi saved the day. Halftime, South Sydney lead 12 to 6.
Parramatta opened the scoring in the second half when they won the contest for the ball off a bomb and scored near the posts. A dropped ball by Parramatta allowed South Sydney to hit back when Kosi got low to the ground and scored Siegwalt failed to convert. A intercept by Kosi allowed him to run 60m up field. A few tackles later Gray sent Duncan over for a try. A kick to the face saw the try become a 8 point try. Siegwalt missed the convert but kicked second from in front. A headclash in defence saw Gray leave the field with a HIA and Siegwalt moved to fullback with Murray moving to left centre. So after KOsi left the field with a leg injury and Dayne Jennings came on for his NRL debut. Pressure from South Sydney and it was Walker who took on the line again and scored his second. Siegwalt failed to convert. Late in the game another intercept by Johnston sent Murray down field on a 50m run before being gathered in. From the next tackle South Sydney spread the ball and Duncan scored his second. South Sydney run out winners 32 to 12.

Late Changes - Le Blanc and Radel started at prop, Ataata and Johannssen on the bench. Vito is the concussion sub. Taua, Pele, Fakaosi and Ayache dropped off the bench. The Roosters opened the scoring when they made a break down their left side to score in the corner. South Sydney hit back when Dufty put Mazzone down the left side for a break, and stepped back in to score under the posts. Bentley-Hape converts. South Sydney were in again from a cross field bomb that Mazzone regathered and scored his second. Bentley-Hape failed to convert. In a sensation Matt Dufty was sent to the sin bin for back chatting in the 32nd minute. A great try saver by Glover on the stroke of halftime saw South Sydney go into the break leading 10 to 6 with 12 men. Strong defence by South Sydney after the break held the Roosters out. A break by the Roosters saw them make a break and late pass saw Dyfty reach out to make a cover tackle but takeout the second man high, which earned him a second stint in the sin bin. But a tired South Sydney struggled to stop the offload and Easts made a big break down the right and scored. A blind side rush saw the Roosters score a long range try wraps up the game. Glover took on the line and made a 40m break to score. A late penalty goal saw the Roosters wrap up the game 14 to 20.

Late Changes - Lyons is out. Fotu-Moala starts at fullback. Taua started at prop, Heslin on the bench. Lua was the concussion sub. Waldock and Samuel dropped off the bench. In Round 17 of the Jersey Flegg Cup, the Rabbitohs secured a comprehensive 24-12 victory over the Roosters at Wentworth Park. A one on one strip by Humphreys allowed South Sydney to be on the attack and Fotu-Moala setup Lenoy-Sam for the first try of the afternoon. Humphries converts. South Sydney were in again when a Humphreys bomb was regathered and desperation offload by Fotu-Moala saw Cresswell score. Humphries converts. After five penatlies the Roosters were finally able to maintain field position and scored out wide. The Roosters went back to back when they out jumped our backline and scored just inside the deadball line. South Sydney went into the break leading 12 to 8. It was tough openeing period to the second half, with a Roosters player sent to the bin. After a Fotu-Moala missed a try scoring opportunity, it was Humphreys who took on the line and scored. He converted his own try. South Sydney made it back to back tries when Humphreys kicked in behind the line for Taj Alvarez to score under the posts. Humphries converts. South Sydney now had a commending 24 to 8 lead midway through the second half. Late in the game the Roosters made a left side break down the sideline and scored. A melee erupted late in the game, but SOuth Sydney hang on to win 24 to 12 in a well-rounded team performance.

South Sydney opened the scoring when Nolan crashed over near the posts. McGregor converts. A dropped just after the kickoff, gifted the Wests-Tigers field position. Soon after a backline sweep saw them score. Sustained pressure saw South Sydney in again when Muller saw a gap from dummy half and scored under the posts. McGregor converts. A last tackle run from dummy half saw Curtain scored next to the posts. McGregor converts. South Sydney ran out strong winners 32-14.
