Mid Season transfer from Cessnock in 1937. He was a lightweight winger who had been a mainstay of Newcastle representative teams.

Fairhall made his first grade premiership and senior grade debut after serving the 28 day residential transfer qualification for country players, in the Round 9 1937 clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval. This was his only first grade premiership game with South Sydney.

He would play a further 2 first grade cup games, for a total of 3 first grade games. He never played in the lower grades.

His final first grade and senior grade game for South Sydney was in the 1937 Round 2 City Cup clash against Canterbury-Bankstown at Belmore Oval.

After Leaving South Sydney

Fairhall set an Australian record for most points in a rugby league game when he scored 61 (11 tries and 14 goals) for Northern Suburbs(Newcastle) against Morpeth-East Maitland in 1940.
