Harris a 2 time South Sydney Reserve Grade premiership winner in 1943 and 1945. He also played in the 1942 Third Grade premiership decider with South Sydney, going off injured after a heavy collision.
Harris is a local South Sydney junior who played with Cleveland St before being call up to play into the South Sydney U21 Presidents Cup team in 1941. Late in the season he was called up to make his senior grade club and premiership debut in the 1941 Round 12 Third Grade clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval. He was the called up at the end of the season for his first grade club and cup debut in the 1941 State Championship Round 1 clash against NSW Group 10 in Lithgow.
Harris was a light weight winger that resembled Harry Finch in style. Considered one of the fastest group of runners at the club, he was a member of the 1943 team 440 yard race at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Harris played 5 seasons with South Sydney between 1941 and 1945. He played 11 first grade club games for South Sydney, which included 8 first grade premiership games and 3 first grade cup games. Overall he played 91 senior grade club games for South Sydney, which included 86 senior grade premiership games. He scored 122 senior grade club points for South Sydney. He also played in the 1943 Short Form competition for South Sydney.
Harris played his final first grade premiership game for South Sydney in the 1944 Round 14 clash against Canterbury-Bankstown at Belmore Oval. A few weeks later he played his final first grade club and cup game in the 1944 State Championship Semi-Final against St George at Erskineville Oval. The following year Harris played his final senior grade club and premiership game in the 1945 Reserve Grade Grand Final against Canterbury-Bankstown at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
