After Leaving South Sydney

In 1944 Ross was caught up in a residential qualification situation known as the "Ross Case". Ross as long term resident of St George, had transfered to South Sydney under the soldiers rule. But after not being graded by South Sydney and the fact that he could not play juniors, he trialled with St George and was graded. But the NSWRL qualifications committee said he would have to play with South Sydney. Howevere he was not graded by South Sydney, thus he was restricted to only playing in Army matches in 1944.
