2024 NRL Premiership Round 3 Teams

South Sydney v Sydney Roosters

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their squad for round three of the 2024 NRL Premiership, the NRL’s Multicultural Round, against the Sydney Roosters to be played this Friday 22 March at 8pm at Allianz Stadium, the first leg of the Ron Coote Cup for season 2024. Rabbitohs Head Coach Jason Demetriou has named Jack Wighton to make his club debut in the centres this Friday night. Dean Hawkins comes into the line up at halfback, with Davvy Moale starting in the front row. Jacob Host returns to the side in the second row. Arrow, Graham, Lovett, Kalo Kalo, Munro and Hallie are out injured.

Captain Cameron Murray will play the 150th NRL game of his career against the Roosters on Friday night, having made his debut against the Broncos in round eight, 2017. Taane Milne will be playing his 50th NRL game in South Sydney colours in round three, having made his club debut against the Sharks in round ten, 2021.

Round three is the first leg of the Ron Coote Cup for season 2024, named in honour of South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs legend, Ron Coote AM. Mr Coote won six premierships and played in nine Grand Finals during his 15 seasons playing first grade football with both South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs. The Ron Coote Cup is played across both home and away fixtures in any given season, with the winner determined by the aggregate score from those two regular season matches.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup teams will take on arch rivals, the Sydney Roosters, in the third round of the KOE Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup competitions for 2024 this weekend. The NSW Cup match will be played at Allianz Stadium on Friday 22 March at 5:30pm as a curtain raiser to the NRL fixture which kicks off at 8pm. Wentworth Park will host the Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s fixture between the Rabbitohs and Roosters on Sunday 24 March at 3pm.

The SG Ball Cup men’s under 19s side will head to Cessnock Sportsground to take on the Newcastle Knights at 12:50pm on Saturday 23 March in round eight of their competition. The Rabbitohs’ Harold Matthews Cup squad has the bye this weekend. The Rabbitohs’ Tarsha Gale Cup under 19s women’s team will play the Wests Tigers at 11:30am on Saturday 23 March at Kirkham Oval in Camden, with the Lisa Fiaola Cup under 17s women’s match to commence at 10am.
