Final Week off
Our final week off for the rest of 2026 season, as the three grades have a well earned rest. We had a whole squad on the sideline, with 14 players on the injured list and 2 out suspended and two on representative duties. This week will see a few return. It is important that we continue the momentum from last weeks victory. We still need 6 more wins to make the finals. Now off to play a hot and cold Parramatta at Parramatta as we start the run home.
Murray origin try
Captain Cameron Murray has been one of the NSW Origin shinning lights. His ability to come off the bench, and lock up the middle in defence, or do the same at second row as been a big contibuter to the Origin victory for New South Wales. And he scored to boot. Great to see that he has recoved from his achilles injury, which hampered him all last year.
Jennings rewarded
Dayne Jennings was another player to play representative football, this time for the New South Wales U19 origin team. After a good step up from U19s into Flegg he was called up onto the extended bench in first grade. He looks to have a long future ahead of him.
McGregor U19 origin
Kiara McGregor continues to have strong performances at represntative level. First she played in U19 NSW City Girls and on the weekend she stepped up into NSW U19 origin girls, scoring a try and kicking 3 goals. With representative duties over, she will be a welcome addition to the girls campaign.
Veainu and Shipton Triples
While the boys had a week off, our womens team played, and what a win it was as they destroyed Wentworthville. Strong running centre Langi Veainu scored 3 tries and kicked a goal, through powerful running. Whie five-eighth Shaye Shipton blitzed the opposition through he speed and step to also score three tries. After two weeks they girls are co-leaders.
IRL Reclassifications
With rugby league world cup spots only going to full members, the re-classifications of the IRL were important for multiple reasons. Seeing countries like South Africa, Brazil and Turkey drop was disappointing after a lot of good work a few years back. It is imporant that the game builds a sustainable product and move beyond being a off season union outing for players. While on the flip side it was good to see the continuing good work in Ghana and Portgual stepping up.
