SOuth Sydney hit the lead again 18-16. 8 minutes later it was Illawarra who scored from a strong run regaining the lead 18-22 with 16 minutes to go. After Illawarra failed to score the match winner, Cody Hill scored under the posts off a great dummy half run. Fotu-Moala converts. Rabbitohs 24-22. A clever kick by Cody Hill in behind the defence in goal saw Aufai-Farani ground the ball. Fotu-Moala failed to covert. South Sydney running out winners 28 to 22.

A kick in behind the line saw Suani score in a scramble for the ball. Tarau converts. Pressure from Newcastle saw them regain the lead as they crossed again before the break. Halftime 6 to 10. After a lucky bounce sees Newcastle in again soon after the break. South Sydney made amends when Varol crashed over out wide. South Sydney were in again off a chip kick where Fotu-Moala scored.
