Waite was a Third Grade premiership winner with the 1909 South Sydney Federal Third Grade affiliate premiership winning team.
Born in Brisbane, but grew around Redfern, Waite was a member of the successful Waterloo Borough rugby union team in 1906, which S.G.Ball was secretary and J.J.McGrath was also a player, before coming across to join South Sydney Federals. He was a noted try scorer who topped the 1909 Third Grade try scoring tally with 16 for affiliate club the South Sydney Federals. In the 1909 Round 8 Third Grade on July 10 clash against Sydney, Waite scored 5 tries. In 1910 he was called up into first grade to make his South Sydney first grade premiership debut in the 1910 Round 1 clash against Balmain at Birchgrove Oval. It was his only first grade game for South Sydney. He would return to affiliate club the South Sydney Federals for the rest of 1910.
