South Sydney outclassed their opponents at all points of the game. Western Suburbs kicked off, and play was confined to the centre, when Storie got hold passed to Cann who was the first to score a try for South Sydney. Rosewell kicking the goal. Fry was the next to score, but Rosewell failed at goal. The passing was good on the part of South Sydney, and the Western Suburbs backs had not the race to beat the opposing combination. Western Suburbs were now penalised for interference in their own 25, and J.Rosewell kicked the goal. South Sydney now has the Westerners defending, when, after a nice passing rush by South Sydney, Fry got hold and scored an easy try. Rosewell's kick at goal failed. South Sydney 10, Western Suburbs nil. South Sydney's three-quarters were now passing well, when Storie knocked on what seemed to be an easy try. South repeatedly broke away from the Wests, when Butler got hold and passed to Leveson to Storie, after some neat passing, was the next to score a try, but Rosewell again failed at goal. South Sydney 13, Western Suburbs nil. From the half-way Abercrombie too a mark he took a place kick at goal for Western Suburbs and scored a beatuiful goal. South Sydney 13 Western Suburbs 2. South Sydney forwards and backs were now playing a grand game, and Leveson scored a try. Butler failed at goal. South Sydney 16 to 2. South Sydney forwards now had the ball on the toe, when from a loose scrum J.Davis picked up, broke away and passed to A.Butler to Leveson, to Jarman, to Green, to Cann who being blocked, passed to Fry, who sent it on to A.Butler, who scored. This was the tit-bit of the day. A.Butler also kicked a good place goal. South Sydney 21 to 2. After a exchange of kicks by the backs, a scrum was formed. Cann showed some of his old form by breaking away with the ball and beating several opponents, getting a splendid try shortly before half time, which A.Butler converted. At half time the scores were - South Sydney, 26 points, Western Suburbs, 2.

The second half opened with Western Suburbs playing a much better game. McFadden got hold and passed it to R.Gormley who scored amidst much cheering. Abercrombie's kick was a good one. Western Suburbs 7, Souths Sydney 26. South Sydney now had Wests on the defensive, when the forwards got hold, J.Davis ultimately scoring. A.Butler converted. South Sydney 31 Western Suburbs 7. South Sydney's forwards now began to press, when Green got hold and fell over the line. Butler kick was amiss. South Sydney 34, Western Suburbs 7. Jarman now scored a try. Rosewell converting. Within a few minutes to full time Anderson scored a try. South Sydney 42, Western Suburbs 7.
