LOSS 0-50
An injury-ravaged Rabbitohs outfit has been thoroughly outclassed by the Melbourne Storm on a rainy Thursday evening at Stadium Australia, conceding 10 tries and falling to a 50 points to nil defeat. The Storm put on a wet-weather football clinic, completing at over 90 percent with Josh Addo-Carr becoming the first player in 71 years to score 6 tries in a match, while the Rabbitohs repeatedly spilled the ball within their own half allowing the Storm to pull them apart & expose the makeshift defensive combinations on both edges. South Sydney came into the match after being forced to make major changes to their side for the second week straight, following a spate of injuries and suspensions in key positions with names like Mitchell, Reynolds, Murray, Graham, Mansour & Paulo all key contributors when healthy & available missing for the match. The last time the two sides met in the first match of the season, the Melbourne Storm came out of the blocks at a breakneck pace & by the time the Rabbitohs worked their way into the match it was too late. The Storm came out of the blocks early again in this one, earning a penalty & a repeat set before the Rabbitohs had even touched the ball, & while the Rabbitohs defense was able to turn them around early on - the Storm controlled the match from the opening whistle & South Sydney where never really in the match. Josh Addo-Carr crossed for his first in the 11th minute pouncing on a Justin Olam grubber with some searing pace required to close the gap & get a hand to the ball. He made it a double 11 minutes later after Nicho Hynes cut through the Rabbitohs right side defense, before finding the winger with a nice inside the ball. The NSW winger completed the hat trick just a few minutes later when Harry Grant found himself in the open field shortly after entering the match. Jerome Hughes crossed for the Storm's fourth try after Cameron Munster stripped the ball from Damien Cook who hyperextended his knee on the play, and Addo-Carr had his 4th before the half was over when the Storm stripped the Rabbitohs right side of numbers to set the winger up in the corner, taking the scores to 26 to nil at the halftime break. The one-way traffic continued in the second half with Brandon Smith jumping out of dummy half & crossing next to the posts in the 46th minute before George Jennings bagged two down the right side after the Rabbitohs repeatedly spilled the ball coming out of their own half. Addo-Carr became the first Melbourne Storm player to score 5 tries in a match in the 66th minute, & bagged his record 6th shortly after completing the 50 point demolition.

Reserve Grade - NSW Premiership Round 9
v Blacktown, Redfern Oval, Sat May 8 2:00pm

LOSS 18-30
During the week NRL moved the NSW NRL clubs 30 contracted players and 6 development players into a NRL players bubble. They also notified clubs that these players were not able to play NSW Cup matches.
Late Changes - Dargan, Hawkins, Cartwright, Sele were out. Mougios started fullback, Hutchinson-Walters on the wing,Chan-Foon in the centre, Jacob Gagai at five-eighth, White at half Gordon at prop. Puru was concussion sub. A fast finishing Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles have ended their losing streak after securing their second win of the season, defeating South Sydney Rabbitohs 30-18 at Ironmark High Performance Centre in Sydney. It was a tough battle as both sides were missing key players. The Rabbitohs were heavily affected by the NRL COVID bubble after losing regulars including Braiden Burns, Dean Hawkins, Hame Sele, Steven Marsters and Taane Milne. Blacktown coach Matt Ballin also missed the game due to the NRL bubble, however, he was on the phone for the entire match to work closely with assistant coach Nathan Hogan. Defensive pressure was added by South Sydney early, after forcing a goal line drop out. Winger Lathan Hutchison-Walters came close to scoring before obstruction was called and Blacktown received possession back. Blacktown had three sets back-to-back to defend before Trent Peoples went over for the Rabbitohs' first points of the match. The conversion was successful from Hutchison-Walters as Souths took the 6-0 lead. Blacktown managed to break through a strong defensive line before Alex Seve made an unforced error and was unable to find his teammate who was in support. Souths were able to captilise on the error as Yileen Gordon barged his way over under the posts. The conversion was successful as Rabbitohs took a 12-nil lead. A turnover 20 metres from Blacktown’s line saw Tim Simona crash over and Brad Keighran successfully added the extras. Momentum started to swing in the Sea Eagles favour after Souths Jacob Gagai found himself in the sin bin for interfering with Blacktown’s attack. Keighran kicked the penalty goal to bring the score to 12-8 at halftime. Errors started to creep in for both sides, although it was Souths who were able to open the scoring in the second half through James Hasson and Hutchison-Walters continued his good form with the boot by successfully adding the two points. Blacktown slowly started to dominate possession and as a result, they were unable to run in four unanswered tries and squash any chance of a South Sydney victory. Terrell May proved hard to stop all day and was rewarded with a four pointer in the 58th minute, and Brad Keighran successfully added the two points. With all the momentum, the Sea Eagles launched an attacking raid down their left edge and it was Dane Aukafolau who found space and forced his way over to level the score. Kauri Aupouri-Puketapu was next in to score in the 75th minute and Dylan Smith put the result beyond doubt with another try three minutes later.
