Trial was played under normal match conditions. South Sydney opened the scoring when Yaranamua went over from dummy half. McGregor converts. South Sydney were in again when Barrett ran onto a cash ball near the posts. McGregor converts. Mounties hit back when they broke the line to run 30m to score. Late in the half McGregor kicked on the last and was regathered by Hopoate who offloaded to Shipton who scored in the corner. McGregor failed to convert. Halftime South Sydney leading 16 to 6. South Sydney opened the scoring in the second half when Yaranamua scored from close range. Yaranamua converts After sustained pressure, they ball was spread right and then spread left before Barrett scored. Yaranamua converts. South Sydney were in again when a bomb by Yaranamua hit the post and allowed Shipton to score under the posts. A cross field kick by Yaranamua saw Brown score out wide. Yaranamua fails to convert. South Sydney running out convincing winner 38 to 6.
