A South Sydney raid down the blind side saw Walker, Mitcher, Johnston combine before Mitchell sent Duncan over for a try. Mitchell fails to convert. Gold Coast hit back when Dufty drops the hitup and the Gold Coast run unapposed to score. South Sydney scored again with a lovely short ball behind the line for Duncan to gather and score. Mitchell converts. South Sydney finish the game with a well worked play that saw Dufty send Johnston in for a try to move to the top of the NRL try scoring table with 29 tries. Dufty was placed on report, but no further action was taken by the Match Review Committee.
Brandon Smith was placed on report for a tackle in the 66th minute of the game. He was later charged with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle. As this is this his second offence it carries a base charge of $2,500 fine. He has since taken the early guilty plea reducing the charge to a $1,800 fine.

South Sydney opened the scoring from a wayward pass that lands in the hands of Mazzone who races away to score his 20th try fro the season under the posts. South Sydney went back to back, after Wests kicked out on the full and gifted field position for Garlick charged onto the ball and scored next to the posts. Siegwalt converts. The Magpies hit back when they swooped on a wayward pass. They then scored soon after, through some desperate offloads in the corner. A strong run a Ataata sees him offload to Mamouzelos who then puts a long ball to Mazzone who races down the slide and steps back in to score his second for the afternoon. Siegwalt converts. South Sydney were in again when Mamouzelos kicked in behind the line for Fletcher score out wide. Siegwalt converts. Western Suburbs hit back when they were agble to keep the ball alive through offloads before they scored out wide. Halftime South Sydney lead 24 to 12. Second had only just started when South Sydney were on the attack, and it was Bentley-Hape with a cutout ball to Mazzone to score in the corner, his third for the afternoon. In a remarkable solo effort Dickson ran the ball back after fielding a kick, broke the line and ran 70 meters to score in the corner. Siegwalt failed to convert. The Red and Green's Jersey Flegg Cup side fought out a hard-earned 24-all draw with the Wests Tigers in Round 26 of the Jersey Flegg Cup at Lidcombe Oval. THe Wests-Tigers opened the scoring when they were gifted field postion when Cody Hill was placed on report for a dangerious tackle. They scored in the right corner through a backline play. The Tigers continued their dominatation of the early part of the game when they scored again down the right wing. After SOuth Sydney were held up 3 times over the line, the Tigers worked their way up field and scored, to take a commanding 16 nil lead. South Sydney hit back when a well placed kick by Humphries saw Taj Alvarez leap above the pack, regather and score. Humphries converts. Halftime Tigers leading 6 to 16. South Sydney opend the scoring after some clever ruck attack work, followed soon after by a great cutout ball by Humphries saw Lyons score in the corner. Humphries cnverts from the sideline. South Sydney were in again after picking a loose ball from the Tigers they were on the attack and Cody Hill scored from dummy half. Humphries converts. South Sydney take the lead 18 to 16. South Sydney were in again when Issac Fotu-Moala chimmed into a backline play and scored. Humphries fails to convert. Tigers hit back when they made a break down the left side and scoped a loose pass the score under the posts. 22 all. A dangerous tackle in the lead up to the try saw South Sydney reduced to 12 men for the rest of the game when Vaotu'va was sent to the sin bin. A high shot saw a penaly. Humphries kicks a long goal to put South Sydney in front 24 to 22. A knockoff the kickoff gave the Tigers last minute field position and a hip drop tackle by McCarthy allowed the Tigers to equalise. 24 all. South Sydney do a short kickoff and gat a penalty. Humphries however misses the long range kick. the game finishes 24 all and South Sydney miss the finals.

Mitchell started at fullback, Taumoepeau-Williams at centre, Dimech at prop, S.Curtain at hooker, Koloamatangi at second row, Hopoate, Li and Laufale on the bench. Managreve was the concussion sub. Wilson dropped off the bench. In their final hitout of the regular season before the finals, against 3rd placed Central Coast, South Sydney had a strong win 28 to 10 at Redfern Oval. South Sydney opened the scoring when Topou-Witchman scored off a barnstorming run behind the ruck. South Sydney went back to back when the McGregor kicked in behind the line, and Neilsen scored in the corner. McGregor failed to convert. Central Coast scored next when then passed a long cutout ball to winger to score. South Sydney went into the break leading 10 to 6. South Sydney opened the scoring in the second from a switch play from Yaranamua which had Gordon running on the infield diagonal which saw her score near the posts. McGregor converts. The Rabbitohs were in again when McGregor put Taumoepeau-Williams into a gap to score from a scrum play. McGregor converts. Central Coast hit back when they kicked in behind the line and scored. South Sydney added another try when McGregor grubbered to the posts and Dimech gathered and scored. McGregor converts. South Sydney running out winners 28 to 10.
