Jai's 100th Celebration
What a emotional moment seeing Jai Arrow run out for the his 100th and last time as a South Sydney Rabbitoh. The sold out crowd were in tears, as the game opened. The Roosters rolledout a makeshift team as they rested many players and South Sydney took full toll scoring 10 tries in a record win at the new stadium. The regular season is now over as the team needs to put emotion behind them and focus on a finals campaign.
Johnston equals 30 try record
Another try and Alex Johnston equaled his 30 try record for the 3rd time, and was once again the NRL top try scorer for the regular season for the 4th occassion. It was his 240th try in first grade and his 250th career try across the 3 senior grade premiership games. And to think, he has plenty more to come.
Murray Player of the Year
What a honour for captain Cameron Murray being award South Sydney player of the year and receiving the George Piggins Medal. He has been outsanding in his comeback year after missing most of the previous season. A great year from our inspirational leader.
McGregor Finals double
Our Womens team is just one win away from the grand final after another strong performance. Kiara McGregor had a another strong game scoring two tries to guide the team to victory.
Wildcard Weekend
The NRL continues its growth path, and the finals format will also need a update. Wildcard weekend is now a serious option. Rather than playing a full round of finals, the new plan is for the Top 6 teams to get a week off. And for a 7 v 10 and 8 v 9 eliminaton games to be played in a new potential 10 team finals format. This will remove dead rubbers late in the season and teams resting players in the last round. This will make sense as we expand the competition.
